2021 Yosemite in the Fall
October 26 to November 3, 2021 by Lolo
It was already October and we hadn’t yet made our annual (and often biannual) trip to Yosemite Valley, although we did visit the northern part of the park for our son’s incredible wedding at Evergreen Lodge (near Hetch Hetchy) earlier in the month.
Camping reservations are hard to come by, so I spent a good deal of time constantly checking for cancellations and managed to piece together 10 days, Having to change campsites every night or two.
The big “atmospheric river” weather event, which was to bring up to a foot of well-needed rain to California, pushed our trip back a few days, as the Valley was also to receive over 9 inches of rain through the weekend and into Monday. As a result, we left on Tuesday when the weather forecast was for sunny skies and 70 degree temperatures for the whole week.
Also, with all the rain the falls would be running again, which was an extra bonus, because you don’t always get to see the fall foliage at its height with Yosemite Falls as a backdrop.
So off we went.
