2002 Winter Trip to Stowe, Vermont

Despite the logistical issues associated with them, winter RV trips had become something we very much looked forward to. We had had two very successful trips over the past two winters—one to Acadia National Park and the other to the Lake Placid area—and I was determined to find something equally fun—which could definitely be a challenge.

I must somewhat smugly confess that I think I did it. After poring over the Woodall’s for countless hours looking for winter camping possibilities, I found the Goldbrook Campground, located in beautiful Stowe, Vermont, just minutes away from some of the best Nordic and downhill skiing in the East. And, to top it off, the Ben and Jerry’s factory (and free samples) was just a few miles further down the road.

As with all our winter trips, we would end it with a few nights stay at Mt. Brodie Ski Resort in the Berkshires, the only place I know in the East that has slope-side camping. (P.S. Sadly, Mt. Brodie closed the following winter)
